Friends in rising places - Local 102 officers meet with Pa. Treasurer and Senate Candidate Bob Casey. |
National issues that affect us
We could lose Social Security as we know it. We face changes in labor law every day. The list is a long one. That's why our union encourages members to engage in targeted political action at a national level. Please visit our national union website to get the latest info.
Utility Commissions that affect our jobs
Locally, System 102 – Allegheny Power workers - covers 5 states. Our members are governed by the Utilities Commission in each state. Go to those sites (link to a page with a list of the sites) and learn more about the people deciding your fate.
Legislators who decide our future (link to a page of all state gov sites links)
Utility commissions work for you through the state and federal legislators you elect. It's easier than ever to email your legislators, praising them for what they do right, and letting them know when you don't agree with them. Almost every state government site has an easy way for you to find your legislator.
e-Activist Network
Don't want to sort through all of that? Then count on the AFL-CIO, the umbrella organization of unions, to send you alerts about issues that affect working families. With a click you can send an email on a particular issue to the legislator who needs to hear it. Sign up for the Working Families e-Activist Network today.
Loyalty pays off - Local 102 President Bill Sterner, left, and UWUA President Don Wightmen, left discuss regulation with then-Congressman Bob Wise, W-Va. Wise is now governor, and W. Va is not deregulated.
